Courses at Ramkrishna Sarada Handicapped School

 

Deaf and Dumb

Children in the age – group of 5-14 years can get admission in this section . The uniform syllabus prescribed by Mass Education Department, West Bengal Government is followed for the children at the initial stage ( 1 st year to 4 th year ). The syllabi prescribed by W.B. Govt. in Primary and Secondary classes are followed upto Class – VIII. Students reading here are eligible to sit for Final Examination as per syllabus and course of studies of Rabindra Mukta Vidyalay. The Organisation is desirous of opening a Study Centre of Rabindra Mukta Vidyalay in future.

 

 

Mentally Retarded and Cerebral Palsied Section

Children in the age – group of 5-14 years can get admission in this section. Students are grouped in classes according to their physical ability and mental development . The syllabus is the same as that of W.B. Mass Edn. Department . Vocational training is provided to the children above 15 years . At present, the trades adopted are – Drawing, Painting , Jute products , Making files and envelopes, Straw mats, Knitting of wools . The trades that will be introduced in the next academic session are - Tailoring , Needlework , Bookbinding, Clay modelling and simple wood craft.

 

 

Visually Impaired Section

The section will be introduced in the next session. The plan is to provide education in Braille Method.

 

 

Hostel Facilities

The Organisation has a well- equipped hostel for 50 students at present . But it aims at providing hostel facilities for all who need it. The age limit for admission in the hostel is –

For Boys- 5- 12 Years

For Girls – 5- 10 Years

The monthly expenses in the hostel are least minimum. The rules and regulations for admission in hostel are available in the office of the Organisation .

 

 

Scholarships, Stipends and other facilities :

1) Education and vocational training for all kinds of handicapped children is totally free. No amount is charged from the students.

2) Special facilities for exceptionally meritorious children belonging to distressed family.

3) Regular health check-up by specialist doctors and medical personnels.

4) Providing certificates, Identity cards, Concession cards for travel.

5) Distribution of Hear- aids free of cost to the hearing impaired children.

6) Providing Speech- therapy, physio therapy and other clinical investigations free of cost.

7) Arranging cultural functions and competition and thus fulfilling the objective of taking these children to the main stream of the society.

 

 

 

School Hours , Holidays & Vacation

1) Working days of the school - Monday to Friday

2) Instructional hours – From 11-00 A.M to 3-30 P.M.

Tiffin recess - From 1-00 P.M. to 1-30 P.M.

Counselling Section

Last Saturday of each month is kept apart for counselling of students and last Sunday of each month for counselling of parents. Both these counsellings play a vital role in proper growth and development of the handicapped , who are looked upon as liabilities but ultimately turn to be invaluable assets of the society.
